THOMAS J. ‘STONEWALL’ JACKSON Signature (1824-1863). Confederate lieutenant general considered by military authorities a skilled tactician and arguably one of the ablest Confederate commanders, mortally wounded by friendly fire at Chancellorsville. War-date signed endorsement, “T. J. Jackson, Lt. Genl,” 3½”x1½”, Hd Qrs 2 Army Corp, Jan 31, 1863. Penned in his holograph following the Battle of Fredericksburg three months before his death. On portion of lightly lined paper, “Res. forward & endorsement of division commander approved…” Minor vertical fold away from signature and negligible foxing; else Fine. On reverse is annotation by autograph dealer E. Haise, “This is guaranteed a genuine ADS of Genl. T. J. ‘Stonewall’ Jackson.” Accompanied by very nice 5”x7” portrait in uniform. Est: $8000-12000
